DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH
The Department of Mental Health’s (DMH) Division of Child and Adolescent Services provides a variety of supports to Massachusetts youth with significant mental health needs and their families.DMH believes that families are experts on their children and both youth and family participation in treatment is essential to recovery process.
Every youth and family has strengths, which are important to help overcome challenges, and DMH services focus on building upon those strengths. Services offered through DMH are intended to be strengths-based, trauma- informed, family-driven, youth-guided, and respectful of the culture and preferred language of the youth and family.
APPLYING FOR MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
To apply for DMH services, contact the Southeast Area DMH office at 508-897-8970.
Authorization for services considers the youth’s behaviors, mental health diagnosis and symptoms, the length of time the symptoms have been present, and how well he/she is able to function in the community.Services offered are based on needs and preferences of the youth and family and available resources
